Safe Eyes - Empowering Nurses!
Technology Integration Into Everyday Safety Eyewear
I’m excited to share with you Safe Eyes, a wearable eyewear concept developed to address the growing challenges of safety in healthcare settings. This project explores how protective lenses can be transformed into an empowering tool by discreetly integrating technology such as an AI-enabled camera, side speakers, and a voice-activated panic button. Designed in close collaboration with nurses and physicians, Safe Eyes responds directly to their feedback on comfort, usability, and discretion, ensuring the glasses fit naturally into the fast-paced routines of hospital life. More than just eyewear, Safe Eyes demonstrates how thoughtful design can protect, support, and ultimately empower those who dedicate themselves to caring for others.
SAFE EYES - WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY
Safe Eyes is a wearable eyewear design created to address the growing workplace violence and escalating safety concerns of healthcare workers. The glasses combine protective polycarbonate lenses with discreet technology, including an AI-enabled camera, side speakers, and a voice-activated panic button. Together, these features provide real-time communication with security, early detection of aggressive behavior, and immediate access to information, all while maintaining a professional, approachable appearance suitable for everyday use. The polycarbonate lenses protect against the elements, such as blood, human waste, saliva, and objects that could injure the eye.
The design was developed through extensive user feedback and iterative prototyping with nurses and physicians. Adjustments were made for comfort, discretion, and ease of use, ensuring that the device could seamlessly fit into daily hospital routines. More than protective eyewear, Safe Eyes represents a tool for empowerment, helping healthcare workers feel safer, more supported, and more confident in the environments where they are needed most.
